Anthony Ailakis, BJuris LLB – Operations Manager

Mr Ailakis is a mining consultant who is a qualified lawyer and has almost 20 years in the mining and exploration industry in Australia and overseas. Mr Ailakis graduated as a lawyer from the University of Western Australia in 1986 and worked as a a general commercial and mining lawyer until he moved into mining and exploration consultancy work on a project basis in the early 1990's.

Through his work in the Western Australian mining and exploration industry, Mr Ailakis has been involved in the development of constructive relationships with Aboriginal Land Councils and traditional owners and in the conduct of access and native title negotiations, as well as ground acquisition and matters relating to tenement management and Mining Act compliance.

Mr Ailakis has also been involved in the negotiation of commercial agreements relevant to the mining and exploration industry, in management and resolution of disputes relating to mining and exploration assets, as well as in the conduct of Mining Act litigation. He has also worked on exploration projects in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Mr Ailakis has been responsible for Redstone's ongoing tenement and asset management, native title and access negotiations.

Joao Orestes Santos (PhD - UFRGS) - Exploration Manager (South America)

Dr Orestes Santos brings to Redstone extensive experience and industry networks in South America.

Dr Santos is arguably the world expert on the Amazonian region. Prior to joining Redstone he held a very senior position in CPRM (Brazilian Geological Survey) for 33 years. He has been involved in several world-class discoveries, including Seis Lagos (Nb), Pitinga (Sn, bauxite) and Sucuriju (Sn). He is also the premier expert on gold deposits of the region. Dr Santos will be involved in targeting and exploration in South America, the Musgrave Region, and in global targeting with the Redstone team.

David Groves (PhD - UTas) Chief Geological Advisor

Professor David Groves spent six years with the Geological Survey of Tasmania followed by almost 35 years at UWA, the past 18 of which he has spent directing the world renowned centre known as the Centre for Exploration Targeting.

Professor Groves has developed special skills in conceptual targeting through his knowledge of global metallogeny and the evolution of Precambrian terranes, combined with his expert knowledge of many commodities including gold, nickel–copper–PGE, copper–gold, and tin–tungsten.

Professor Groves' academic standing and leadership skills have been recognized through his election as President of the Geological Society of Australia and Society of Economic Geologists (SEG), Vice-President of SGA and his election as only one of three economic geologists (with Dick Stanton and Roy Woodall) to the Australian Academy of Science. He has consulted for government bodies and exploration companies worldwide, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, Ghana, Malaysia, Portugal, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tanzania and USA. Professor Groves is an innovative thinker who provides technical advice to the Exploration Manager and leads Redstone’s global targeting team.

Iain Groves (BSc Hons - UWA) Exploration Consultant

Mr Iain Groves has 20 years of gold and base-metal exploration experience with numerous mining companies including WMC, Homestake and Perilya.

He has explored for a variety of commodities and deposit styles, including Ni, Cu, PGEs, Au, Ag and diamonds in diverse terranes including the Yilgarn goldfields, Broken Hill, Ballarat, the Tanami, Tanzania and Mexico. Mr Groves has previously been part of several successful exploration groups at Fortnum (Au) and Reliance (Zn), and has been involved in target generation and developing an improved understanding at the giant Broken Hill Pb-Zn-Ag Mine. He is consulting to Redstone and is actively involved in target generation, program design and implementation.
